Noosa

Noosa Heads, one of Australia’s premier upmarket holiday destinations, boasts beaches, National Park and Noosa River for easy commuting to other Australian states and regions. Attracting both visitors and residents alike with its friendly locals, slow beach days and special adventure activities – Noosa Heads stands out as a premier Australian resort area.

Start your day right by swimming or walking Noosa’s stunning beaches, followed by lunch at one of Hastings Street’s many eateries offering innovative locally sourced cuisine.

Discover Noosa National Park and its beautiful lakes and lush rainforests; spot koalas amongst the eucalypt forests; swim, surf, stand up paddle on Noosa World Surf Reserve; explore local markets at Eumundi or Peregian Beach to find colourful handmade goods; then relax by Lake Cootharaba or cruise Noosa Everglades (one of only two Everglades systems globally).

Maroochydore

Maroochydore serves as the main commercial area on the Sunshine Coast and features the Sunshine Plaza shopping centre as well as being home to Kinetic Group, operating local buses under Translink public transit system. Furthermore, this vibrant city serves as host for major surf sport carnivals and is an increasingly popular holiday destination.

Maroochydore offers all four football codes, with its Multi Sports Complex hosting both soccer and rugby league matches. The Australian Football Club of Maroochydore – or “Roos” as it’s often known – competes in Queensland Australian Football League Premiership competition, fielding women’s and junior sides.

Sunshine Coast Airport, situated north of Marcoola’s urban center and servicing Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide with Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Qantas flights is located north of Marcoola and also features numerous community and commercial radio stations that serve this region.

Caloundra

Caloundra is an idyllic coastal town on the Sunshine Coast offering plenty of family fun and outdoor adventure. Here you’ll find epic attractions, vibrant street art installations, boutique shops to test out your credit card with, boutique shops selling handmade gifts that won’t break the bank, cafes that will leave you craving more, and plenty more besides!

Caloundra draws visitors for its golden beaches that stretch along Pumicestone Passage. Golden Beach, Bulcock Beach and Kings Beach are all patrolled to allow swimming and surfing activities.

Surfers also like Moffat Beach, located on Bribie Island’s northern end and with alfresco cafes and restaurants located along its esplanade – as well as being popular spots for joggers – popular among surfers. Joggers frequent this beach; also on it lies the site of the SS Dicky shipwreck that lies rusting offshore; plus there are picnic and barbecue facilities on it too!

Gibsons

Gibsons serves as the main marine gateway to the Sunshine Coast and offers plenty of activities. You can kayak Desolation Sound or Copeland Islands from here; hike the Sunshine Coast Trail; or explore Powell River from this charming town.

Willingdon Beach is a favorite among residents, while visitors can also swim at Gibsons Beach or Saltery Bay Provincial Park nearby the ferry terminal. Walking paths provide a fun way to explore and there are shops and restaurants along Marine Drive, Molly’s Lane, and Gower Point Road.

Visit the Gibsons Visitor Centre to gain knowledge about local culture and history as well as pick up maps and brochures. Located across from Winegarden Park where live music events take place each summer, as well as starting point for hikes up Soames Hill – you will discover so much here!

Sechelt

The Sunshine Coast is home to an abundance of wildlife, from cougars and black bears to wolves and whales – as well as being an excellent location to spot whales and other marine mammals. All wildlife should be observed from a safe distance.

Sechelt (ch’atlich in Shishalh language) lies on an isthmus that connects the Sunshine Coast to mainland British Columbia. Located 50 km (30 miles) northwest of Vancouver.

Forests throughout this area feature old growth Douglas fir and western red cedar trees, rich with moss that serves as home for various birds, such as ancient murrelets and Cassin’s auklets. Hiking and walking trails are available, while there is even wheelchair-accessible trail in Hidden Groves section of forest.
