The team is currently the feeder club for the Christchurch Storm RL. The Sunshine Coast FC has been a professional team since 2007, and was formerly known as the Brisbane Roar. In 2009, the club signed a feeder club deal with the Manly Sea Eagles. It played under the name Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles for five years before reverting to its original name.
