Road closures for the Sunshine Coast Marathon

Considering that the Sunshine Coast Marathon will be held on Sunday, August 4, there will be some road closures in the lead up to and during the event. As such, it’s important to be aware of what roads will be closed to minimise disruption and traffic congestion.

There are several roads to choose from. The most comprehensive list can be found on the council’s Roads Hub website. However, the list may be incomplete or inaccurate, so it’s recommended that you use it as a guide only.

The organisers at Events Management Queensland have made it a point to make their road closures as transparent as possible. The best bet is to follow their instructions on Twitter, Facebook or their website. A map of the route will be available on the Roads Hub website.

AIMS membership

Runners who compete in the Sunshine Coast Marathon can benefit from a membership with the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS). Runners can apply to join as members, but there are certain requirements to be eligible.

A member of AIMS will receive free advertising in their quarterly magazine. The association also publishes a manual on their events, including the race’s course design, accurate timing systems, and initial considerations. The association works closely with the International Association of Athletic Federations to ensure the best racing experience for all runners.
