The Sunshine Coast Falcons are one of the top teams in the NRL, currently sitting third on the ladder. They have won five of their last six games, with four wins, and are within touching distance of the finals. Although they lost to fellow finals bound Capras in Round 16, they have only lost back-to-back games once this season, against Burleigh and Wynnum-Manly. This makes them a good bet to bounce back against the Hunters in Round 17.

Despite the loss to the Falcons, SP PNG Hunters still managed to keep a lead throughout the game, and threatened a second-half comeback. The Hunters started the game much better than they had in previous weeks, taking two early points from the Falcons. However, the Falcons’ second-half comeback ultimately proved to be too much and they were eventually defeated 22-8.

The Falcons’ winger Nat McGavin broke the deadlock in the 18th minute to give the Falcons a 14-2 lead at halftime. Then, in the 68th minute, fullback Keven Appo took advantage of a penalty and scored a try. In the end, though, it was still a tough night for the Hunters, whose players were brave despite the defeat.

In the second half, the Falcons’ attack was more focused and more consistent than in the first 40 minutes. They controlled the yardage game and applied pressure through a strong defensive line. They also scored a try through Will Warbrick in the 58th minute. Ultimately, it took a little longer to get past the Tweed Falcons’ defence. The final set of the game was a tight, back and forth contest.

The Sunshine Coast Falcons’ Footy Kidz program provides an opportunity for children with disabilities to get involved in rugby league. This specialised program helps them develop social skills and motor skills. Qualified coaches from the NRL Game Development program and local NRL players help to facilitate the program. If you’re interested in sponsoring one of these programs, contact the Falcons office for more information.

The Jets will travel to Caloundra to play the Falcons. The Jets lost both games against the Falcons last season. The Jets last beat the Falcons 20-6 in 2016, while the Falcons beat the Jets 34-4 and 36-16 on the Coast. With three wins from three games, the Falcons have jumped the Jets in attack and defence. This will be a tough match-up.
