Summer

The Sunshine Coast boasts one of the world’s best climates, offering year-round warmth and sunshine without drastic seasonal variations.

Summer brings with it warm to hot temperatures and is a busy period for Sunshine Coast towns. Beaches become overrun with families during this period while schools take a holiday, so be prepared for some busy times at attractions such as Noosa Main Beach, Kings Beach at Caloundra or Mooloolaba Beach.

Winter may be cooler, but with clear skies and stunning sunsets it remains an excellent season to experience Noosa beaches. Swimming conditions never become too chilly for Noosa residents so the ocean never needs to feel uninviting for swimming! Plus Kanu Kapers kayak tours of Noosa National Park make the experience all the more engaging – it’s also an opportunity to immerse yourself in Indigenous culture at Bunya Dreaming festival in Noosa National Park!

Winter

Due to an unexpectedly cool turn this week, Sunshine Coasters are bundling up for night temperatures that may dip as low as 8 degrees Celsius at Marcoola this morning – well below what was typically expected in early May.

Winter is an ideal time to discover the mountainous areas of Sunshine Coast. Small and picturesque towns like Montville and Maleny come alive during these cooler months with cozy cabins offering hot chocolate to cozy pubs where visitors can drink beer by the fireplace.

Rainfall occurs most frequently during February but may still happen any month. Days in which it rains are divided into categories for either rain alone or mixed precipitation with snow, with February 19 being the maximum probability for both forms. Furthermore, Sunshine Coast is well known for its windy conditions as evidenced by its dark gray line representing mean hourly wind speeds.

Spring

Spring (April to May) brings mild temperatures averaging 13degC to 25degC, providing ideal conditions for hiking and other outdoor activities; just remember to pack a waterproof jacket just in case the weather turns wet!

Dew points play an essential role in outdoor comfort, determining how much perspiration will evaporate from our bodies to cool us down and regulate body temperatures. Unfortunately, the Sunshine Coast experiences high levels of humidity throughout its yearlong activities.

Sunshine Coast’s climate is heavily impacted by its location in southern Queensland. Tropical cyclones may occur more often and with greater force than those experienced further north in Queensland, while short-lived heatwaves may also occur here.

Autumn

Temperatures begin to ease off slightly in Autumn, yet temperatures remain warm enough for swimming and enjoying the sunshine. Rainfall drops significantly compared to its summer peak while humidity is much reduced as well.

Autumn is an ideal time for bushwalking through the hinterland, when blooming floral displays adorn every corner. Additionally, fall is also the ideal season to visit local markets such as Eumundi or Noosa as well as explore Australia Zoo zoological park.

Autumn school holidays mean the beaches will likely be busier than usual. But there are other activities besides beach access to draw people in such as festivals and events such as Noosa’s Quiksilver Pro Surf Competition; food and wine events throughout the region and much more!
