The Sunshine Coast is a bustling region filled with stunning beaches, scenic hinterlands, delicious food and endless activities – not to mention some truly impressive street art!

Residents in Palmwoods were stunned to witness earthworks start on a development site which had initially been denied by council. But the Queensland government has stated its intent not to back down from housing density goals.

Buddina

Buddina sits along the Pacific Ocean and boasts an idyllic long stretch of beach. As a popular tourist destination, this town provides many fun things for families and friends to do while at its shoreline; guests can engage in all manner of beach-front activities while discovering its coastal rainforest at leisure.

The Sunshine Coast council takes a strong stance against building height limits, seeking to keep the region as low-rise as possible. According to their 2041 corporate plan, any increased density or height will be concentrated in key corridors or nodes like Kawana beachfront area.

The Sunshine Coast community is concerned with a new development at Buddina beachfront that will overlook important turtle nesting habitats. According to scientific research, artificial light at night deters nesting loggerhead turtles from returning and disorientates hatchlings; making survival more challenging. Therefore, measures need to be taken by governments in order to safeguard our environment.

Maroochydore

Sunshine Coast town of Noosa serves as the administrative hub of its region and is beloved for its long, white sand beaches that span half the length between Noosa and Mooloolaba. Noosa itself boasts numerous boutique shops and eateries offering high fashion shopping and dining experiences, while Sunshine Beach serves as the administrative seat.

Seven Queensland, the region’s primary television station, broadcasts from Maroochydore with six regional news bulletins. Furthermore, both major commercial networks (WIN and Southern Cross 10) maintain newsrooms within its limits.

Maroochydore city centre was designated a priority development area (PDA) by the Queensland government in 2013. As part of their effort, Maroochydore Council and SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd entered into an agreement with developer Walker Corporation for this project to be carried out. Since 2013, several smart city initiatives have been introduced into Maroochydore including an international cable landing station offering Australia’s fastest data connection with Asia; smart street lighting network; internet-connected rubbish bins all intended to encourage sustainable lifestyles while decreasing energy consumption and consumption overall.

Montville

Montville Mountain Village on the Sunshine Coast is one of its premier tourist spots, famed for its walking trails, parklands, delicious cuisine and exceptional shopping, plus beautiful holiday accommodation venues.

Montville’s early families were marked by strong community spirits. Unfortunately, this has been challenged in recent times due to bureaucratic planning decisions which ignore community feedback; furthermore, landform, vegetation, fauna and rainfall catchment of Blackall Range is not conducive to residential development including aged care facilities.

Nambour

Nambour sits at the base of Blackall Range on Sunshine Coast and serves as its historic core. Boasting an eclectic town centre filled with vintage shops and eateries, Nambour provides something special for everyone in its charming community.

City life here offers stunning natural beauty and offers a relaxing lifestyle, yet close to urban amenities making it a wonderful choice for families and retirees.

Nambour has experienced rapid population growth over recent decades but maintains its sense of community through its residents’ commitment to protecting its natural beauty while creating an engaging, friendly atmosphere.

A new plan aims to revive the city’s historic heart through greener streets and wider pathways, while at the same time reinvigorating Nambour’s creative and welcoming reputation. The plan will build upon existing projects such as Special Entertainment Precinct and Nambour tram line as well as encouraging the creation of new entertainment venues as well as increasing affordable housing availability.
